न च मत्स्थानि भूतानि पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् । भूतभृन्न च भूतस्थो ममात्मा भूतभावनः ॥
na ca matsthāni bhūtāni paśya me yogamaiśvaram | bhūtabhṛnna ca bhūtastho mamātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ ||
Translation
And yet beings do not exist in Me — behold My divine yoga! My Self sustains beings but does not abide in them, and causes beings to be.
Interpretation
The paradox deepens: 'and yet beings do not exist in Me' — after saying they do. Krishna says: 'Behold My yogam aishvaram — My divine yoga (the paradoxical power of the Divine).' The Divine sustains all (bhutabhrit — the sustainer of beings) yet does not abide in them (na bhutastha). The Divine causes beings to exist (bhuta-bhavanah) while remaining transcendent. This is beyond logic — it is the mystery of transcendence-in-immanence, formlessness-in-form. The invitation is to 'behold' — to directly perceive this, not merely think about it.
