यथाकाशस्थितो नित्यं वायुः सर्वत्रगो महान् । तथा सर्वाणि भूतानि मत्स्थानीत्युपधारय ॥
yathākāśasthito nityaṃ vāyuḥ sarvatrago mahān | tathā sarvāṇi bhūtāni matsthānītyupadhāraya ||
Translation
As the mighty wind, moving everywhere, always abides in space — even so, know that all beings abide in Me.
Interpretation
A beautiful and clarifying simile. Wind moves everywhere, manifests in many directions and intensities, has tremendous power — yet it always abides within space (akasha). The wind does not create space and is not separate from it; space is the infinite ground that contains all wind. Yet space is not 'in' the wind. Similarly, all beings (the wind) move and manifest within the Divine (space/akasha), which is their ground and container. The beings are in the Divine; the Divine is not confined to the beings. This is the resolution of the paradox from verses 4-5.
