महात्मानस्तु मां पार्थ दैवीं प्रकृतिमाश्रिताः । भजन्त्यनन्यमनसो ज्ञात्वा भूतादिमव्ययम् ॥
mahātmānastu māṃ pārtha daivīṃ prakṛtimāśritāḥ | bhajantyananyamanaso jñātvā bhūtādimavyayam ||
Translation
But the great souls, O Partha, who partake of the divine nature — they worship Me with undivided minds, knowing Me as the imperishable source of all beings.
Interpretation
In contrast to the previous verse, the mahatmas (great souls) are described: they take refuge in daivi prakriti (divine nature — the orientation toward the Real, the sat-cit-ananda). They worship (bhajanti) with ananya-manasah (undivided, one-pointed mind). And their knowledge is specific: they know the Divine as bhutadim avyayam — the imperishable source/beginning of all beings. Knowing the origin, they worship the origin. This direct knowledge and undivided devotion characterizes the greatest souls.
