मोघाशा मोघकर्माणो मोघज्ञाना विचेतसः । राक्षसीमासुरीं चैव प्रकृतिं मोहिनीं श्रिताः ॥
moghāśā moghakarmāṇo moghajñānā vicetasaḥ | rākṣasīmāsurīṃ caiva prakṛtiṃ mohinīṃ śritāḥ ||
Translation
Vain are their hopes, vain their actions, vain their knowledge — those of deluded minds who are possessed by the bewildering nature of the demonic and the rakshasa.
Interpretation
The triple futility of those who fail to recognize the Divine: mogha-asha (vain hopes — their desires will not be fulfilled in any lasting way), mogha-karma (vain actions — their deeds accomplish nothing enduring), mogha-jnana (vain knowledge — their information does not lead to wisdom). Why? They are operating from rakshasi-asuri prakriti — demonic and yaksha nature — a disposition of arrogance, denial of the divine, and clinging to the purely materialistic view of existence. Their intelligence is mohini — bewildering, confused.
