तद्बुद्धयस्तदात्मानस्तन्निष्ठास्तत्परायणाः । गच्छन्त्यपुनरावृत्तिं ज्ञाननिर्धूतकल्मषाः ॥
tadbuddhayastadātmānastanniṣṭhāstatparāyaṇāḥ | gacchantyapunarāvṛttiṃ jñānanidhūtakalmaṣāḥ ||
Translation
Those whose intellect is absorbed in That, whose self is That, who are established in That, who have That as the supreme goal — their impurities washed away by knowledge — they go to non-return.
Interpretation
A beautiful verse describing the fully liberated person. Four aspects of complete absorption in the Supreme: (1) buddhi (intellect) rests in That; (2) atma (sense of self/identity) has become That; (3) nishtha (firm establishment) — rooted in That; (4) parayana (ultimate refuge) — That alone is the goal. For such a person, knowledge has burned away all karmic impurities (kalmasha). They attain apunaravritti — the state of non-return, liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
