तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया | उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः ||३४||
tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśhnena sevayā upadekṣhyanti te jñānaṁ jñāninas tattva-darśhinaḥ
Translation
Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.
Interpretation
One of the most important practical verses: the path to knowledge requires a qualified teacher ('tattva-darśhī' — one who has seen the truth). The student's approach must be threefold: 'praṇipāta' (humble prostration — coming without ego), 'paripraśhna' (sincere inquiry — not to challenge but to genuinely understand), and 'sevā' (service — offering one's capacities to the teacher's mission).
