श्रेयान्द्रव्यमयाद्यज्ञाज्ज्ञानयज्ञः परन्तप | सर्वं कर्माखिलं पार्थ ज्ञाने परिसमाप्यते ||३३||
śhreyān dravya-mayād yajñāj jñāna-yajñaḥ parantapa sarvaṁ karmākhilaṁ pārtha jñāne parisamāpyate
Translation
O subduer of the enemy, the sacrifice of knowledge is greater than the sacrifice of material possessions. O son of Pritha, after all, the sacrifice of work culminates in transcendental knowledge.
Interpretation
Among all yajnas, the yajna of knowledge is supreme. All forms of karma yoga ultimately culminate in ('parisamāpyate' — are completed in) jnana (knowledge). The outer practice eventually burns through to inner awakening. Action without knowledge is like working in darkness; knowledge illuminates the path and transforms all action.
