Bhagavad Gita
12.5

क्लेशोऽधिकतरस्तेषामव्यक्तासक्तचेतसाम् । अव्यक्ता हि गतिर्दुःखं देहवद्भिरवाप्यते ॥

kleśo'dhikatarasteṣāmavyaktāsaktacetasām | avyaktā hi gatirduḥkhaṃ dehavadbhiravāpyate ||

Translation

The difficulty is greater for those whose minds are attached to the Unmanifest. For the goal of the Unmanifest is reached with difficulty by those who are embodied.

Interpretation

An honest assessment: klesho adhikatara (the difficulty is greater) for those on the impersonal path (avyakta-asakta-chetasam — whose minds are attached to the Unmanifest). Why? Because the embodied being (dehavadbhih) — those who have a body, senses, and emotions — finds it exceedingly difficult (duhkham) to focus on what is completely formless and unmanifest. The mind naturally reaches out toward forms; to withdraw it entirely toward the formless requires extraordinary sustained discipline. The personal path works with human nature; the formless path must overcome it.
