Bhagavad Gita
11.53

नाहं वेदैर्न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया । शक्य एवंविधो द्रष्टुं दृष्टवानसि मां यथा ॥

nāhaṃ vedairna tapasā na dānena na cejyayā | śakya evaṃvidho draṣṭuṃ dṛṣṭavānasi māṃ yathā ||

Translation

Not by Vedic study, nor by austerity, nor by charity, nor by sacrifice — can I be seen in such a form as you have seen Me.

Interpretation

The emphasis from verse 48 is repeated for its importance: no conventional religious achievement — Vedic study, austerity (tapas), charity (dana), sacrifice (ijya) — produces this vision. These are all legitimate and valuable; they purify the mind and build merit. But the Vishvarupa is beyond merit — it is the direct gift of divine grace to a soul whose love is complete. The path to this vision is not achievement but surrender, not accumulation but openness.
