Bhagavad Gita
11.5

श्रीभगवानुवाच पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः । नानाविधानि दिव्यानि नानावर्णाकृतीनि च ॥

śrī bhagavān uvāca paśya me pārtha rūpāṇi śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ | nānāvidhāni divyāni nānāvarṇākṛtīni ca ||

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: O Partha, behold My forms in hundreds and thousands — varied, divine, of many colors and shapes.

Interpretation

The invitation is given: 'Behold!' (pashya — see, look, open your eyes). And what Arjuna will see is staggering: hundreds and thousands of forms (shatasha atha sahasrashah), varied (nana-vidhani — of many kinds), divine (divyani), of many colors and shapes (nana-varna-akritini). The universe of forms is about to be revealed as the one infinite Divine displaying itself in its infinitely varied self-expression. What was described in Chapter 10 as a sample of vibhutis is now to be directly seen.
