मन्यसे यदि तच्छक्यं मया द्रष्टुमिति प्रभो । योगेश्वर ततो मे त्वं दर्शयात्मानमव्ययम् ॥
manyase yadi tacchkyaṃ mayā draṣṭumiti prabho | yogeśvara tato me tvaṃ darśayātmānamavyayam ||
Translation
If You think it possible for me to see it, O Lord — then, O Lord of Yoga, show me Your imperishable Self.
Interpretation
Arjuna's request is appropriately humble: 'if You think it possible' — he does not presume he is ready, does not demand the vision. He asks with openness and deference, acknowledging that the question of his preparedness is for the Divine to judge. He calls Krishna 'Yogeshvara' — the Lord of Yoga, the supreme master of all yogic power — acknowledging that what he asks requires the Divine's own power to grant. The conditional clause 'if possible' opens the door; Krishna will walk through it and grant the vision.
