एवमेतद्यथात्थ त्वमात्मानं परमेश्वर । द्रष्टुमिच्छामि ते रूपमैश्वरं पुरुषोत्तम ॥
evametadyathāttha tvamātmānaṃ parameśvara | draṣṭumicchāmi te rūpamaiśvaraṃ puruṣottama ||
Translation
O Supreme Lord, as You have described Yourself, so it is — yet I desire to see Your divine form, O Supreme Person.
Interpretation
Arjuna's faith is complete: 'as You have described Yourself, so it is' (evam etat yathattha). He accepts the teaching fully. But he has the courage to ask for more: drashthum icchami — I desire to see. Not merely to know intellectually, but to perceive directly, with the senses. This is the request for direct vision — darshana — of the ishvara rupa (the divine form, the form of the Lord). Arjuna trusts the teaching and then asks to move from knowledge to vision. This is a very human and completely valid spiritual longing.
