नमः पुरस्तादथ पृष्ठतस्ते नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वत एव सर्व । अनन्तवीर्यामितविक्रमस्त्वं सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्वः ॥

namaḥ purastādatha pṛṣṭhatas te namo'stu te sarvata eva sarva | anantavīryāmitavikramastvaṃ sarvaṃ samāpnoṣi tato'si sarvaḥ ||

Translation

Salutations from the front and from behind, salutations to You on every side, O All! You of infinite power and immeasurable valor — You pervade all, therefore You are all.

Interpretation

Arjuna bows from all directions because the cosmic form has no single face to face. Namaḥ purastadatha prishthatah te — salutations from the front and from behind. Namo'stu te sarvata eva — salutations to You from everywhere simultaneously. 'O All' (sarva) — the complete identification of the Divine with totality. Ananta-virya amita-vikrama — infinite power, immeasurable valor. And the conclusive logic: sarvam samasnosi (You pervade all) tato asi sarvah (therefore You are all). The universe is the Divine because the Divine pervades it completely — not separately from it but as its very substance.
