अर्जुन उवाच पश्यामि देवांस्तव देव देहे सर्वांस्तथा भूतविशेषसंघान् । ब्रह्माणमीशं कमलासनस्थम् ऋषींश्च सर्वानुरगांश्च दिव्यान् ॥
arjuna uvāca paśyāmi devāṃstava deva dehe sarvāṃstathā bhūtaviśeṣasaṃghān | brahmāṇamīśaṃ kamalāsanastham ṛṣīṃśca sarvānuragāṃśca divyān ||
Translation
Arjuna said: O God, I see all the gods and varied multitudes of beings in Your body — and Brahma the Lord, seated on the lotus throne, and all the sages and divine serpents.
Interpretation
Arjuna's hymn begins with what he sees. In the cosmic form he perceives: all the gods (sarvan devan), all the varied multitudes of beings (bhuta-vishesha-sanghan), Brahma the creator (seated on his lotus throne — kamala-asanastham), and all the sages (rishins — the great seers of truth), and divine serpents (uragams — the great cosmic serpent beings). The vision is a vast catalogue of all existence simultaneously visible, all contained within the one divine body.
