Bhagavad Gita
11.14

ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो हृष्टरोमा धनञ्जयः । प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं कृताञ्जलिरभाषत ॥

tataḥ sa vismayāviṣṭo hṛṣṭaromā dhanañjayaḥ | praṇamya śirasā devaṃ kṛtāñjalirabhāṣata ||

Translation

Then Dhananjaya (Arjuna), filled with wonder, with hair standing on end, bowed his head to the Lord and with joined palms spoke.

Interpretation

Sanjaya describes Arjuna's physical response to the vision: vismaya-avishta (filled with wonder, seized by astonishment), hrshta-roma (hair standing on end — the classical Sanskrit description of goosebumps arising from profound emotion, whether devotion, awe, or overwhelming love). Arjuna bows his head (pranamy-a shirasa — with his head touching the ground), joins his palms (kritanjalir), and begins to speak. What follows is the most famous prayer in the Bhagavad Gita — Arjuna's hymn to the cosmic form.
