मामुपेत्य पुनर्जन्म दुःखालयमशाश्वतम् । नाप्नुवन्ति महात्मानः संसिद्धिं परमां गताः ॥
māmupetya punarjanma duḥkhālayamaśāśvatam | nāpnuvanti mahātmānaḥ saṃsiddhiṃ paramāṃ gatāḥ ||
Translation
Having come to Me, the great souls do not take birth again in this impermanent abode of suffering — they have attained the highest perfection.
Interpretation
Liberation is defined: having reached the Divine, these great souls (mahatmanas) never again take birth in this world — described with unflinching honesty as duhkhalayam (a dwelling place of suffering) and asashvatam (impermanent). Not because the world is evil but because it is inherently incapable of providing the complete, lasting fulfillment that consciousness seeks. The highest perfection (param samsiddhim) is the state of being beyond rebirth — not a place but a state of being, a recognition of one's eternal identity with the Divine.
