ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः । युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः ॥
jñānavijñānatṛptātmā kūṭastho vijitendriyaḥ | yukta ityucyate yogī samaloṣṭāśmakāñcanaḥ ||
Translation
The yogi who is content in knowledge and wisdom, who is unmoved like a peak, who has conquered the senses, who regards equally a clod of earth, a stone, and gold — such a one is said to be established in yoga.
Interpretation
The portrait of the established yogi continues. Tripthatma — the self satisfied (not merely content, but fulfilled) in both theoretical knowledge (jnana) and experiential wisdom (vijnana). Kutastha — 'standing at the peak,' unmoved like a mountain summit. And the remarkable test: sama-loshtashma-kanchana — equal regard for a clod of earth, a stone, and gold. The yogi has genuinely ceased to project value onto matter; what others fight and scheme for appears neither more nor less precious than common dirt.
