pūrvābhyāsena tenaiva hriyate hyavaśo'pi saḥ | jijñāsurapi yogasya śabdabrahmābhivartate ||
Translation
By that same force of previous practice, one is carried forward even involuntarily. Even one who merely inquires about yoga goes beyond the sound-Brahman (Vedic rituals).
Interpretation
The momentum of previous practice is so powerful that it carries the reborn yogi forward even avasha (without conscious effort, involuntarily). The spiritual pull is built into them. And a remarkable statement: even jijna-asur — one who merely inquires about yoga, who has genuine curiosity about it — transcends shabda-brahma, the Vedic rituals focused on sound-forms and external ceremony. The spirit of sincere seeking itself is more powerful than external religious performance.
