Interpretation

The chapter's culminating verse reveals the complete vision of the Divine. Krishna is the bhoktaram (the true enjoyer and recipient) of all sacrifices and penances — meaning that all sincere spiritual effort ultimately reaches the Divine. He is sarvaloka-maheshvara — the great Lord of all worlds, all planes of existence. And most movingly, he is suhridam sarva-bhutanam — the unconditional friend of all beings. This triple recognition — of the Divine as receiver of all practice, ruler of all worlds, and friend of all life — brings the peace described throughout this chapter. It is peace through knowledge, through devotion, and through the joy of cosmic friendship.
