व्यामिश्रेणेव वाक्येन बुद्धिं मोहयसीव मे | तदेकं वद निश्चित्य येन श्रेयोऽहमाप्नुयाम् ||२||
vyāmiśhreṇeva vākyena buddhiṁ mohayasīva me tad ekaṁ vada niśhchitya yena śhreyo'ham āpnuyām
Translation
My intelligence is confused by your seemingly ambiguous instructions. Therefore, please tell me decisively that one thing by which I may achieve the highest good.
Interpretation
Arjuna feels confused — the teaching seems contradictory ('vyāmiśhreṇeva' — mixed or ambiguous). He asks for a single, clear directive. This is a natural response of a disciple who has received philosophical teaching but hasn't yet grasped the underlying unity. Krishna will now clarify the two paths and show they are not in conflict.
