यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः | आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते ||१७||
yas tv ātma-ratir eva syād ātma-tṛptaśh cha māhanaḥ ātmany eva cha santuṣhṭas tasya kāryaṁ na vidyate
Translation
But for one who takes pleasure in the Self, who is illuminated in the Self, who rejoices in and is satisfied with the Self only, for him nothing is left to be done.
Interpretation
The rare exception to the law of yajna: the Self-realized person (ātma-rati — one who delights in the Self) has no further obligation. Such a being has fulfilled the entire purpose of existence. They may continue to act, but they do so freely, out of love and compassion, not out of any remaining duty or lack.
