Bhagavad Gita
2.63

क्रोधाद्भवति सम्मोहः सम्मोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः | स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति ||६३||

krodhād bhavati sammohaḥ sammohāt smṛti-vibhramaḥ smṛti-bhraṁśhād buddhi-nāśho buddhi-nāśhāt praṇaśhyati

Translation

From anger, complete delusion arises; from delusion comes bewilderment of memory; when memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost; and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool.

Interpretation

The chain continues: anger → delusion (sammohah) → memory-loss → intelligence-destroyed → complete ruin. This is the full 'fall of man' in the Gita's psychology. What begins with mere contemplation of a sense object ends in total spiritual collapse. The teaching underscores the importance of vigilance at the very first step — the direction of attention.
