यततो ह्यपि कौन्तेय पुरुषस्य विपश्चितः | इन्द्रियाणि प्रमाथीनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मनः ||६०||
yatato hy api kaunteya puruṣhasya vipaśhchitaḥ indriyāṇi pramāthīni haranti prasabhaṁ manaḥ
Translation
The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of a man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.
Interpretation
Even a wise person striving for control can be swept away by the 'pramāthīni' senses — the turbulent, churning senses. This is an honest acknowledgment that the spiritual path is not easy. The senses are powerful. Effort alone is not enough — one needs the grace of a higher realization.
