2.57
यः सर्वत्रानभिस्नेहस्तत्तत्प्राप्य शुभाशुभम् | नाभिनन्दति न द्वेष्टि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ||५७||
yaḥ sarvatrānabhisnehas tat tat prāpya śhubhāśhubham nābhinandati na dveṣhṭi tasya prajñā pratiṣhṭhitā
Translation
In the material world, one who is unaffected by whatever good or evil he may obtain, who neither praises nor hates — his wisdom is firmly established.
Interpretation
The wise person is 'anabhisneha' — without emotional attachment to things received. Good or evil, praise or blame, fortune or misfortune — none of it triggers elation ('nābhinandati') or resentment ('na dveṣhṭi'). The wisdom is 'pratiṣhṭhitā' — established, grounded, unshakeable.
