Interpretation

The portrait of the true tyagi (renunciant in the Gita's sense): one who is filled with sattva, truly intelligent (medhavi — not merely clever but deeply understanding), with doubts severed at the root, and who neither dislikes unpleasant duty nor clings to pleasant duty. The hallmark is equipoise toward the nature of the work itself. Whether the work is enjoyable or difficult, prestigious or humble — the sattvic tyagi brings the same quality of full engagement, because the motivation is not personal preference but the call of what is right.
