Interpretation

The two sets of qualities have opposite destinations: daivi sampat leads to moksha (liberation from the cycle of conditioning), while asuri sampat leads to further bondage. Then comes one of the Gita's most personally loving moments: 'Do not grieve, Arjuna — you are born to the divine inheritance.' In the midst of abstract teaching, Krishna speaks directly to his friend's heart. Arjuna, troubled and fearful at the start, possesses the divine qualities. This reassurance is also a universal teaching: the very fact that one yearns for liberation, questions existence, and seeks higher understanding is evidence of daivi sampat already at work.
