अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं च संश्रिताः | मामात्मपरदेहेषु प्रद्विषन्तोऽभ्यसूयकाः ||
ahaṅkāraṁ balaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ krodhaṁ ca saṁśritāḥ mām ātma-para-deheṣu pradviṣanto 'bhyasūyakāḥ
Translation
Resorting to egotism, force, arrogance, desire, and anger, these malicious persons hate Me in their own bodies and in the bodies of others.
Interpretation
The deepest spiritual harm of the demoniac nature: by resorting to ego (ahamkara), force, arrogance, desire, and anger, they end up hating the Divine within themselves and within others. Every act of violence, exploitation, and contempt is ultimately directed at the Divine that dwells in every heart. This is why spiritual teachings across traditions emphasize that harm to any being is harm to God. The demoniac person, in despising others, is unknowingly expressing contempt for the very source of their own existence. This is the ultimate self-destruction.
