प्रकृत्यैव च कर्माणि क्रियमाणानि सर्वशः । यः पश्यति तथात्मानमकर्तारं स पश्यति ॥
prakṛtyaiva ca karmāṇi kriyamāṇāni sarvaśaḥ | yaḥ paśyati tathātmānaṃ akartāraṃ sa paśyati ||
Translation
One who sees that all actions are being performed by Prakriti alone, and that the Self is the non-doer — that person truly sees.
Interpretation
A second criterion of true vision: seeing that all actions (karmani) are performed by Prakriti alone (prakritya eva) in all ways (sarvashah), and that the Self (atmanam) is a-kartaram — the non-doer. This is the complete liberation from the sense of doership. Not 'I am doing this' but 'Prakriti is doing this through this body-mind, and I (the Self) am the witnessing presence.' This recognition removes the ego's claim on actions and thereby removes the karma that claim would create. The non-doer is not bound by action.
