सर्वतः पाणिपादं तत्सर्वतोऽक्षिशिरोमुखम् । सर्वतः श्रुतिमल्लोके सर्वमावृत्य तिष्ठति ॥
sarvataḥ pāṇipādaṃ tatsarvato'kṣiśiromukham | sarvataḥ śrutimalloke sarvamāvṛtya tiṣṭhati ||
Translation
With hands and feet everywhere, with eyes, heads, and mouths everywhere, with ears everywhere — it stands enveloping all in the world.
Interpretation
After the via negativa, the via positiva: Brahman described through its omnipresence. Not as a being with one set of hands and feet and eyes, but as the presence that has hands and feet and eyes everywhere — because it pervades all beings and through them perceives, acts, and knows. Sarvata-pani-padam (hands and feet everywhere), sarvata-akshi-shiro-mukham (eyes, heads, mouths everywhere), sarvata-shrutimat (ears everywhere). And the conclusion: sarva-avritya tishthati — 'it stands enveloping all.' Not inside the world or outside but as the very encompassing presence of all.
