अर्जुन उवाच एवं सततयुक्ता ये भक्तास्त्वां पर्युपासते । ये चाप्यक्षरमव्यक्तं तेषां के योगवित्तमाः ॥
arjuna uvāca evaṃ satatayuktā ye bhaktāstvāṃ paryupāsate | ye cāpyakṣaramavyaktaṃ teṣāṃ ke yogavittamāḥ ||
Translation
Arjuna said: Those devotees who are ever-steadfast and worship You — and those who worship the Imperishable, the Unmanifest — which of them are the best knowers of yoga?
Interpretation
After the extraordinary vision of Chapter 11, Arjuna returns with a practical question: two paths of the highest devotion — worshiping the personal form of the Divine (as he did throughout the Vishvarupa episode) versus worshiping the formless, imperishable Absolute (aksharama avyaktam). Which is better? This question has concerned seekers across all traditions: form or formless, personal or impersonal, devotion or pure knowledge. Krishna's answer is compassionate and precise.
