पितासि लोकस्य चराचरस्य त्वमस्य पूज्यश्च गुरुर्गरीयान् । न त्वत्समोऽस्त्यभ्यधिकः कुतोऽन्यो लोकत्रयेऽप्यप्रतिमप्रभाव ॥
pitāsi lokasya carācarasya tvammasya pūjyaśca gururgarīyān | na tvatsamaste'bhyadhikaḥ kuto'nyo loktraye'pyapratimprabhāva ||
Translation
You are the father of the world of the moving and unmoving. You are worthy of worship — the great guru, greater than any other. There is none equal to You in the three worlds — how could there be anyone greater, O one of matchless power?
Interpretation
Three recognitions in the apology's context: (1) Pita asi lokasya — You are the father of all the world (moving and unmoving), which means I should have addressed You with the reverence due to a father; (2) pujyash cha gurur gariyam — worthy of worship, the greatest of teachers, greater than any; (3) na tvat-samo asti abhyadhika — there is none equal to You, and how could there be anyone greater (kutah anyah — where would such a person be?). The Vishvarupa has permanently transformed Arjuna's understanding of who Krishna is.
