अमी हि त्वां सुरसंघा विशन्ति केचिद्भीताः प्राञ्जलयो गृणन्ति । स्वस्तीत्युक्त्वा महर्षिसिद्धसंघाः स्तुवन्ति त्वां स्तुतिभिः पुष्कलाभिः ॥
amī hi tvāṃ surasaṃghā viśanti kecidabhīyāḥ prāñjalayo gṛṇanti | svastītyuktvā maharṣisiddhasaṃghāḥ stuvanti tvāṃ stutibhiḥ puṣkalābhiḥ ||
Translation
These hosts of gods are entering into You. Some in fear are praying with joined palms. The hosts of great sages and siddhas are saying 'Svasti' (may it be well) and praising You with magnificent hymns.
Interpretation
What Arjuna sees happening within the cosmic vision: the hosts of gods (sura-sangha) are entering the cosmic form — they are being absorbed into the Divine. Others are standing with joined palms (pranjalayah) in fear (bhitah), praying. The great sages (maharshi) and perfected beings (siddha) are chanting 'Svasti' (a blessing, a prayer for auspiciousness) and offering magnificent hymns of praise. Even the gods and sages are overwhelmed by this vision — the infinite dwarfing even the greatest of finite beings.
