अहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः । भवन्ति भावा भूतानां मत्त एव पृथग्विधाः ॥
ahiṃsā samatā tuṣṭistapodānaṃ yaśo'yaśaḥ | bhavanti bhāvā bhūtānāṃ matta eva pṛthagvidhāḥ ||
Translation
Non-violence, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame, and infamy — these various states of beings arise from Me alone.
Interpretation
Continuing from verse 4: ahimsa (non-violence), samata (equanimity), tushtis (contentment), tapas (austerity), dana (charity), yashas (fame), ayasha (infamy) — all arise from the Divine alone (matta eva). Even infamy has its source in the Divine, not as something the Divine approves but as something that cannot exist outside the Divine's ground of being. The teaching: no state, no quality, no condition is outside the Divine. This is the ultimate basis for equanimity — all is the Divine's play, the divine vibhuti (glory) in diverse forms.
