द्यूतं छलयतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् । जयोऽस्मि व्यवसायोऽस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववतामहम् ॥
dyūtaṃ chalayatāmasmi tejastejasvinām aham | jayo'smi vyavasāyo'smi sattvaṃ sattvavatāmaham ||
Translation
Among those who deceive, I am gambling. Among the brilliant, I am brilliance. I am victory; I am effort; I am the sattva of the sattvic.
Interpretation
A surprising vibhuti: among deceptive acts, the Divine is dyuta (gambling) — a significant acknowledgment that even in morally ambiguous realms, a form of divine energy is operating. Among the brilliant (tejasvinam), the Divine is brilliance itself (tejas). The Divine is jaya (victory), vyavasaya (decisive effort, the will to succeed), and the sattva (pure quality of goodness) of those who are sattvic. Every positive quality in its concentrated excellence is the Divine's vibhuti.
