मृत्युः सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम् । कीर्तिः श्रीर्वाक्च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृतिः क्षमा ॥
mṛtyuḥ sarvaharaścāhamudbhavaśca bhaviṣyatām | kīrtiḥ śrīrvākca nārīṇāṃ smṛtirmedhā dhṛtiḥ kṣamā ||
Translation
I am death, the all-seizer; and I am the origin of what is to be. Among feminine qualities: fame, prosperity, speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness, and patience — I am these.
Interpretation
Even death (mrityu) is the Divine — all-seizer (sarva-hara), the great leveler and recycler of existence. And the Divine is also the origin of all future emergence (udbhava). Among the noble feminine qualities, the Divine is: kirti (fame, noble reputation), shri (prosperity, beauty, grace), vak (speech, the power of language), smriti (memory), medha (intelligence, understanding), dhriti (steadfastness, courage), and kshama (forgiveness, patience). These seven are the Divine's feminine expressions of excellence.
