Interpretation

Among the Daityas (titans, the great adversaries of the gods), the Divine is Prahlada — the great devotee-child who refused to stop his devotion even under his father's murderous persecution. Even among opposition and darkness, the highest example is a devotee. Among reckoners of time, the Divine is Kala — time itself, the supreme calculator and consumer. Among beasts, the lion (mrigendra — king of beasts). Among birds, the Divine is Garuda — the great eagle, Vishnu's vehicle, the king of birds.
