येषां त्वन्तगतं पापं जनानां पुण्यकर्मणाम् । ते द्वन्द्वमोहनिर्मुक्ता भजन्ते मां दृढव्रताः ॥
yeṣāṃ tvantagataṃ pāpaṃ janānāṃ puṇyakarmaṇām | te dvandvamohānirmuktā bhajante māṃ dṛḍhavratāḥ ||
Translation
But those persons of virtuous deeds whose sins have come to an end — freed from the delusion of pairs of opposites — worship Me with firm resolve.
Interpretation
Who worships the Divine with genuine freedom? Those whose sins have been exhausted (antakatam papam — sins come to an end through purification), those who have performed virtuous deeds (punya-karmanam). Such people become free from dvandva-moha (the delusion of opposites) and worship with dridhavrata — firm resolve, unshakeable commitment. This is not achieved once and lost; it is the stable orientation of a purified mind. Moral purification precedes and enables spiritual liberation.
