संन्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः । योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥
sannyāsastu mahābāho duḥkhamāptumayogataḥ | yogayukto munirbrahma nacireṇādhigacchati ||
Translation
But renunciation, O mighty-armed Arjuna, is difficult to attain without yoga. The sage who is disciplined in yoga quickly attains Brahman.
Interpretation
Pure renunciation without the practice of yoga (disciplined selfless action, meditation, and devotion) is exceedingly difficult — the unprepared mind still craves and wanders. But the sage who practices karma yoga builds the inner discipline (yoga-yukta) that makes genuine renunciation natural. Through this, the mind becomes purified and Brahman — the infinite consciousness — is realized, not in a distant future, but soon.
