न चैतद्विद्मः कतरन्नो गरीयो यद्वा जयेम यदि वा नो जयेयुः | यानेव हत्वा न जिजीविषाम स्तेऽवस्थिताः प्रमुखे धार्तराष्ट्राः ||६||
na chaitad vidmaḥ kataran no garīyo yad vā jayema yadi vā no jayeyuḥ yān eva hatvā na jijīviṣhāmas te'vasthitāḥ pramukhe dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ
Translation
Nor do we know which is better for us — conquering them or being conquered by them. Even the sons of Dhritarashtra, after killing whom we should not wish to live, stand before us.
Interpretation
Arjuna admits his fundamental confusion: he does not even know which outcome is better — victory or defeat. When a person cannot see what is good for them, they are in delusion (moha). This is the state of moral paralysis that requires the teacher's intervention.
