यज्ञे तपसि दाने च स्थितिः सदिति चोच्यते | कर्म चैव तदर्थीयं सदित्येवाभिधीयते ||
yajñe tapasi dāne ca sthitiḥ sad iti cocyate karma caiva tad-arthīyaṁ sad ity evābhidhīyate
Translation
Steadfastness in sacrifice, austerity, and charity is also called 'Sat'; and action for the sake of these is likewise called 'Sat.'
Interpretation
Sat also applies to steadfastness (sthiti) in practice: the sustained commitment to sacrifice, austerity, and charity over time. And any action performed for the sake of these sacred acts is also Sat. This verse makes consistency itself a spiritual virtue — the repeated, faithful return to practice in the face of obstacles and distractions is participation in Sat, in Reality. This is why spiritual traditions emphasize daily practice: not because each individual act is extraordinary, but because the accumulation of faithful ordinary acts is itself extraordinary.
