क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोरेवमन्तरं ज्ञानचक्षुषा । भूतप्रकृतिमोक्षं च ये विदुर्यान्ति ते परम् ॥
kṣetrakṣetrajñayorevamantaraṃ jñānacakṣuṣā | bhūtaprakṛtimokṣaṃ ca ye viduryanānti te param ||
Translation
Those who, with the eye of knowledge, know the distinction between the field and the Knower of the field — and the liberation from the nature of beings — they go to the Supreme.
Interpretation
The culminating verse of Chapter 13: jnana-chakshusa (with the eye of knowledge — not the physical eye but the inner eye of discriminative wisdom) — seeing the antaram (distinction, difference) between the kshetra and the kshetrajna — and bhuta-prakriti-moksham (liberation from the prakriti of beings, freedom from material nature) — ye viduh (those who know) yanti te param (they go to the Supreme). The entire elaborate analysis of field and Knower has been in service of this moment: the direct realization of the distinction between body and Self that results in liberation.
