सञ्जय उवाच | एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्ख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत् | विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः ||४६||
sañjaya uvāca evam uktvārjunaḥ saṅkhye rathopastha upāviśhat visṛjya sa-śharaṁ chāpaṁ śhoka-saṁvigna-mānasaḥ
Translation
Sanjaya said: Having thus spoken on the battlefield, Arjuna cast aside his bow and arrows and sat down on the chariot, his mind overwhelmed with grief.
Interpretation
The chapter ends with Arjuna in complete collapse — bow dropped, sitting down, mind overwhelmed (śhoka-saṁvigna-mānasaḥ). This is the perfect crisis that makes the Gita necessary. A great warrior has been brought to his knees not by an enemy but by love and confusion. Krishna's teaching is about to begin.
