उत्सन्नकुलधर्माणां मनुष्याणां जनार्दन | नरके नियतं वासो भवतीत्यनुशुश्रुम ||४३||
utsanna-kula-dharmāṇāṁ manuṣhyāṇāṁ janārdana nrake niyataṁ vāso bhavatīty anuśhuśhruma
Translation
O Janardana, I have heard by disciplic succession that those who destroy family traditions must dwell in hell for an indefinite time.
Interpretation
Arjuna draws on scriptural knowledge ('anuśhuśhruma' — we have heard) about the consequences of destroying dharmic family traditions. His scriptural learning is real, but it is being misapplied. Knowledge without wisdom leads to confusion, which is exactly the condition Krishna will now begin to address.
