यद्यप्येते न पश्यन्ति लोभोपहतचेतसः | कुलक्षयकृतं दोषं मित्रद्रोहे च पातकम् ||३७||
yady apy ete na paśhyanti lobhopahata-chetasaḥ kula-kṣhaya-kṛtaṁ doṣhaṁ mitra-drohe cha pātakam
Translation
Although these men, their hearts overtaken by greed, see no fault in destroying their family or quarreling with friends —
Interpretation
Arjuna distinguishes himself from the Kauravas: they are blinded by greed and cannot see the sin in destroying family. He, however, can see it clearly. This moral clarity is genuine — but even clarity about the sin of others does not automatically resolve the question of one's own duty.
