Interpretation

The culmination of the demoniac trajectory: the mind becomes increasingly fragmented (aneka-citta-vibhrantah — scattered across a thousand preoccupations), enmeshed in the net of delusion (moha-jala — a fishing net of maya from which escape becomes increasingly difficult), addicted to sensual pleasure, and ultimately the soul falls into naraka — a foul realm of experience. Naraka is not necessarily a physical location but the hell created by the accumulated consequences of a life lived in total opposition to one's deepest nature. The fallen mind is its own hell.
